Hey this is tom. I haven't been able to do much with the humanities scholars this quarter because it's been a pretty busy quarter. I have been to two events this quarter that are humanities related. I went to the Pawpaw festival in Athens County, OH. The pawpaw is an indigenous fruit native to Southern Ohio and every year they have a festival where everything is related to pawpaws. The food is made with them, and they have special brewed beer made from Pawpaws. They also have live music, and historical information on the role of Pawpaws in Southern Ohio culture. Overall it was very fun and interesting.
I also recently went to a fundraiser for the environmental group Free the Planet. They are an OSU based organization which works towards environmental justice. They recently had a fundraiser at a gallery space in the Short North. It was to raise money for the organization, and also to raise awareness about the 3C rail. They also passed around a petition to sign to get the governor to accept the money and make and operate the rail in Ohio. They had live music and local art made by artists.
