Right on the Deadline

Hey, fellow scholars!

As I've been following the blog, I've always thought "I should probably make my post." Well, looks like I finally got around to it ... less than 2 hours before it's due.

It seems like everything has been going that way lately, whether it be with discussion board posts, homework, papers, even take-home midterms. BUT - the humanities, in their various forms, are a nice break from the (sometimes) hell-hole called school.

Like the last few posts before mine, everyone's talked about things I had in mind. For my humanities requirement this quarter I went to Taste of OSU. I got to knock out two requirements for going; I had to go for my sorority, Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority, Inc., as we try to attend multicultural events on campus. My sister Arielle recommended that I try mango lassi from Iraq/Iran (I don't remember which)....and let's just say it was gross! I really liked the pastitsio though; it was reminiscent of the Greek Festival that occurs in the Short North / downtown Columbus area every summer around labor day. If you haven't been, I seriously recommend it. They not only have wonnnderful food but awesome dancing, cultural wear and art to look at / buy.

As for those of you who went to see Maya Angelou, I am completely jealous. I really wanted to see her but unfortunately could not make time. :[ And I heard Alice in Wonderland wasn't that great! (as I skimmed I saw that one of you had posted about it). I work at a pizza store right next to Studio 35 (historic movie theatre on Indianola / Weber area) and all the employees get in for free....I should probably make use of that and go to all the movies I can over break (the oh-so-short two weeks of it).

Candice - the program / camp in China you were talking about sounds awesome! I've never seen 'the Buried Life,' but every time I see the commercial it looks inspiring. I feel like money is holding so many people back from traveling, whether it be for fun or studying abroad. I'd love to go to South Africa some day; perhaps I will take your viewpoint on it - save up and go!

And yes, Amanda, I remember xanga. I didn't have one of those - the big thing at my school was livejournal! hahaha

Hope everyone does well on finals......H-to-the-U-M, what!?
