Spring Quarter 2011

I've always been bad at remembering to write a blog post for Humanities Scholars. However, since this is my last quarter here I figured why not? There are two things that stood out to me this quarter. First it's the NYC trip . . . and then it's the End of the Year Celebration we had recently.

The NYC trip was marvelous; since this was my first and only Spring trip the Humanities scholars, I consider it to be very special. I'm a shy person by nature and I was a bit anxious about going on this trip and sharing a room with girls I didn't know. But my fears were unfounded. I had an amazing time. Everyone was so kind and considerate, I was able to spend time with a number of people who didn't mind me dropping into their group. Also, Devon and Co. mad sure to make me feel welcome in our shared room :) I was also able to meet and catch up with a dear childhood friend of mine, so this trip was amazing in more ways than one.

At our year end celebration, I admit I was a bit touched. There were no tears shed, but I had a certain feeling in my chest when we were recognizing the seniors. I remember my first year in the Humanities Scholars. I remember the first day I met Ben Fortman when he replaced Emily Carpenter. I remember the fun I had talking with everyone and attending a number of wonderful events while learning new things. There are a few seniors that I talk to and even though we're not really close friends, I know I'm going to miss them when I leave. I'll especially miss Ben and Daniel :) They're so much fun and obviously have a lot of passion for what they do. And they're just plain silly.

It's been a blast. I'm proud to have received the Outstanding Fourth Year award; it reminds me of how much I enjoyed the Humanities Scholars to the fact that I would attend more than my fair share of events. I treasure every moment. I'll miss you guys . . . but it's time to move on.
